SFC's Unified Ceiling Module Design is Patented
The SFC (Seismic Fixture Clamp) is designed to attach the light fixture to the suspended ceiling grid at each of the four corners. The SFC's unique attachment design combines the light fixture and the ceiling grid to form a single unit.
In a seismic event, the SFCs will ensure that the light fixture and the supporting suspended ceiling grid will respond as a unified ceiling module. The SFCs will not allow the T-bar main and cross runner connections to separate. The entire unit will remain intact, thereby eliminating the possibility of light fixture components breaking apart which could result in debris such as cover lenses and fluorescent light tubes falling and possibly causing harm to occupants trying to exit the building.
The unified ceiling module design offers these benefits:
- Reduce the possibility of harm to occupants fleeing the building during an earthquake and firefighters from debris falling from the ceiling while they are fighting fires.
- Reduce the possibility of damage to building infrastructures such as sprinklers.
- Eliminate the need for any additional attachment of slack wires to light fixtures which in turn, reduces labor and material costs. As a result, retrofit and remodel projects profit margins would be maximized.
- Comply with DoD (Department of Defense) specifications.
- Comply with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Specifications.
